I’m happy to announce that this June 27-July 21st, I’ll be heading to Istanbul, Turkey to teach multimedia reporting with The Institute for Education in International Media (ieiMedia). The project is partnered with San Francisco State University, Winston-Salem State University, and Bahçeşehir University. Check out The Istanbul Project

I’m really excited to be able to participate in this project, and of course cannot wait to return to Istanbul. It’s such a beautiful city.
Tammy’s planning to come and visit for a couple of weeks, and I can’t wait to spend some time documenting this fascinating country, and working with talented students from various colleges and universities. We feel so fortunate that this somehow fell in between all of our wedding bookings in what is an incredibly busy wedding season this year for us.

You can read more about some of the staff involved on the Faculty Page

From the website:

A select group of university students and young professionals will spend an intensive month living in one of the world’s greatest cities, where they’ll practice working as foreign correspondents. Students will report, write, blog and shoot basic video about Istanbul’s culture, neighborhoods, politics, life, people and arts, and create a web magazine and book about their experience.

The program is open to up to 24 English-speaking college students and recent graduates from any school. Students from many universities — including the University of Maryland, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Temple University, UCLA, New York University, Arizona State University, San Francisco State University, Gonzaga University, University of Arizona, University of Montana, Loyola College, San Jose State University, Humboldt State University, San Diego State University, Rice University, University of Nevada-Reno and Baylor University — have participated in past ieiMedia programs. We’ve also had students from Japan, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Thailand and Trinidad.

Most of our students are journalism or communications majors but those majoring in other subjects are welcome as well. Non-journalism majors should have a strong interest in reporting and some experience working for a college or professional publication.
