Snijana and Aditya are meant for each other, plain and simple. They’ve been together since grade 10, and say it’s been easy.
Throughout their youth, one always reminded the other that there was never any pressure to stay together. But, together they stayed.
They are the meant to be kind of couple.

I had the pleasure photographing their engagement session downtown Detroit and at Kensington Park at sunset in Novi, Michigan. (where they were engaged)

Jennifer + Joel | Rock Glen Engagement Session

I spent a beautiful day yesterday with Jennifer and Joel at the waterfall at Rock Glen in Arkona, Ontario. Jennifer and Joel met during their residency, and you can see how strong their love is within seconds of being around them.

The couple are getting married in September. We were already booked on their wedding day, but were so happy they chose to have us photograph their engagement session!

Brittany + Mike | Willistead Manor Wedding

This weekend we photographed Brittany and Mike’s wedding at Willistead Manor in Windsor, Ontario, followed by a reception at the Windsor Hilton.

Brittany and Mike have been together since grade 12. They met in grade 9. They grew up in Windsor, and now reside in Vancouver, B.C.

Brittany’s three sisters stood by her side for the wedding, and her father cried. A lot:)

It was wonderful to see two people who have been on such a long journey together make it official, and it was a honour to be there to tell the story of their day!

Ashley + Josh | Kingsville B & B Wedding

We spent this Saturday photographing Josh and Ashley’s wedding in Kingsville, Ontario at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast, followed by a reception at Caesars Windsor.
Ashley and Josh have been together for ten years, and have two amazing children together. This wedding was all about family, and their children were part of every aspect of the wedding, from the ceremony to the first dances. It was awesome to see the love their family of four has for each other, and the supporting friends, and family that surrounded them for their beautiful day.

Congratulations to the Hebert’s from Tammy and I.

Why you should NOT come to our studio for your family photos

Tammy and I have been talking a lot lately about photographing our family, and how that’s shaping the way we photograph other families.
The more and more we look at the images we love of our family, the more we realize that they are moments taken in places we are comfortable.
We’re not wearing necessarily in our best outfits. We’re not forcing our kids to stand still and smile. We’re not static.

We are a young family. Our children cry. They get grumpy. The need snacks for bribes. So does their dad:) They love to play. Move. Dance. Run. (okay, Cohen can’t really run yet, but you get my drift)

Even our newborn photography reflects this. At home, it’s easy to feed, change, and care for your little bundle. Not to mention, they too are in their element, and much more apt to fall asleep, and be content for a session.

Don’t get us wrong. We feel there’s a time and a place for the studio. If you’re looking for business headshots, a larger group photo, commercial product photography, or model/fashion headshots, our doors are open. This is more of a message to encourage you to think, and envision what may make a more interesting portrait that reflects you and your family. Something unique. Something candid. Something that stands out. Something that would look great on your wall.

Breagh + Denver | Country Engagement Session in SW Ontario

I had the pleasure of photographing Breagh and Denver during their engagement session earlier this week. They even brought their amazingly cute son Maddox with them to join the session for a few images.

We cruised down back country roads, and made random stops at barns, fields, and parks throughout the evening.

Boudoir Workshop | Behind the Scenes

This past Sunday, we hosted our first ever Boudoir Workshop at The Retro Suites in Chatham, Ontario.
Our sold out course had eight students who had the chance to work with two amazing models who had no previous boudoir experience. One of them had never modeled before, and the other had modeled one afternoon for a previous off camera lighting course we offered.
We wanted the workshop to emulate what it is like to work with real clients to give the students a realistic experience.

Students spent the first hour learning lighting techniques, and tips and tricks for boudoir photography from yours truly, and then had the remainder of the course to work with the models creating their own images with various lighting techniques from natural to studio lighting within the suite.

I’m happy to share some of the students images today on the blog.

Elish and Mike Featured on Sash & Satin

New York City Engagement Photography | Ling + Eric

Springtime in New York City is the perfect time for an engagement session. The cherry blossoms are out, the weather isn’t humid, and the city is alive after a long
(although mild) winter.

I had the opportunity to travel to New York City this past weekend to photograph Ling and Eric. They have two upcoming weddings in San Francisco, and China, but live in New York City, so their friend Jennie thought it would be a great gift to invite me to spend a day photographing their engagement photos in NYC.

We spent the day traveling around the city from Brooklyn to Central Park. We finished up their engagement photos at night in Times Square.

It was a great day, and a great weekend which allowed me to visit old friends, and make new ones.

Ashley + Josh | Engagement Photography in Windsor Ontario

Ashley and Josh met when they were 12 at an inline skating place. They started dating at 14, and this May they’ll be getting married this May in Kingsville.
We spent an evening photographing their engagement session in Windsor. It was a chilly night, but spring was in the air.
